Critique: COSSACK

This paper seems to abandon its stated purpose. The authors say the
COSSACK project's purpose in relation to configuration is to:
-
understand it as a generic problem solving activity
-
relate it to other kinds of design tasks
-
identify the different kinds of knowledge and their use
The authors go on to talk of interesting research issues which
don't seem to relate directly to the purpose of the project, or at least
are not mentioned as being related. There is an obvious
connection between mapping from a configuration problem into a
generalized constraint reasoning problem and relating configuration
to other design tasks, but other than that, correlations are difficult
to draw between the paper's content which mainly discusses the system
and research issues, and the stated goals of the project.
While there are many fine points made about the configuration task hidden
in the examples of a system, its workings and the research issues
explored, it would have been nice to have a summary of these points
and the associated goals of the project.
